One Year Ago...

...Hope came charging back into our lives, swished her tarty party skirt, clacked her fancy high heels together and said...how 'bout it?

How 'bout it indeed.

It seems incredible, miraculous, insane.

That this...

And this...

And much more of this...

could lead to this...

First things first: what an utterly darling poppet. I couldn't stop my face making the univerally-recognised misty-eyed expression for 'that is the sweetest thing ever'. (And, fine figure of a woman though you are, just so you know - I'm talking about the last photo).

Secondly, well yes. It is miraculous. In the real sense of the word. We saw Z when he was four cells old, and my mind staggers to comprehend the perfection of potential and design that was already in those four cells, to become its current embodiment of a gummy grinning 8-month old, to become whatever he will be in the future.

It terrifies me at times - but if that's the price then I'm happy to pay it.

I wish I had thought to take pics of me as a syringe logging druggie, too! Will you show adorable Tricky someday?

Great idea #2(aka k#2)!

When Ava comes to me to ask how a baby gets inside mummy’s tummy I will show her a picture of Breda injecting herself and explain that the baby is inside the needle. I can then end the lecture by saying calmly ‘SO STAY AWAY FROM BOYS!!’ Brilliant.

Ova Girl – yeah, looking back I find it hard to believe we ever actually went through IVF. Seems like another life (a particularly crap other life at that). Congrats on the first year.

Isn't he perfection??

I don't have any pics of me shooting up, but I did take a picture of all the syringes, vials, and pill bottles, and pee-sticks I used during my successfull cycle.

Worth every ouch, wasn't it?
-D.

Ova Girl, he is absolutely divine!

Doesnt it just do your head in that a couple of little cells can end up with eyes to drown in?

bittersweet eh?
All that pain - but what a gain!

Tricky is going to be a heartbreaker when he grows up, if he is not already one.

oh those EYES!! he's adorabubble, OG

i must admit to hesitating a little when i first saw the photo of your 'erbs: thought you were claiming that taking crack could get you pregnant

it was the dirty spoons (and a momentary lapse of intelligence)

"squirty up the clacker": it's made it into the oxford english dictionary already, right?

it's the vernacular for u-no-wot in this here household

I recall reading your post a year ago.....it was so exciting. He's beautiful OG! But of course you already knew that!

Hey Urban Chick I thought the same thing afterwards, it was the only photo I really had of the Horrid Herbs!

Lucrin plus Puregon plus Smack equals baby.... hmm not sure that's the message I want to give.

Wow!
And how brave you were to go through such un-conceptual things.
And it worked!
